This person was born on the 20 th June 1967 in Honolulu in Hawaii. As a young child she was very artistic going to ballet from the age of three then on to mime then finally learning drama, her first role was as a bleating sheep in the Christmas Pageant. Whilst at High School she also trained at the Philip Street Theatre . Then she continued her study in acting at the Australian Theatre For Young People In Melbourne after she moved out there. She had her first taste of fame when she starred on the big screen as Judy in the film BMX Bandits . After that she starred in a small mini TV series called Five Mile Creek .

It was from this series she had quite a run of films even though she was still at a very young age, some of those roles were Julia Matthews - Wills & Burke, Amy Gabriel - Watch The Shadows Dance, Carol Trig - Room To Move & Rae Ingram - Dead Calm. She also had a very small part on “Saturday Night Live” across from Mike Myers . Also at this time she learnt to play the piano which came to help her later on in life when it helped her get a film part.

It was all go from then the movie roles just kept coming up and any films that she starred in were all blockbusters. Some of the roles she played were Doctor Claire Lewicki - Days Of Thunder, Drew Preston - Billy Bathgate, Shannon Christie - Far And Away, Suzanne Stone Maretto - To Die For, Doctor Chase Meridian - Batman Forever, Isabel Archer - The Potrait Of A Lady & Tracy Kennsinger- Malice. It was on the set of one of these films where she met her future husband. But still not entirely happy with her performance even after doing all these films she enrolled at New York's Actors Sudio to study the method of acting some one who is a definite perfectionist in her work.

Over the years she has won an Oscar, a BAFTA & 3 Golden Globe Awards. But due to her very hectic schedule she needed some well deserved time off to spend time with her husband and her two children. Then after 6 months she came back with a chain of massive hits which put her firmly back in the Hollywood limelight, some of the roles which put her there were Doctor Julia Kelly - The Peacemaker, Gillian Owens - Practical Magic, Alice Hartford - Eyes Wide Shut, Grace Stewart - The Others, Ada Monroe - Cold Mountain & Joanna Eberhart - The Stepford Wives. Also in 2003 she earned her own star on the Holly wood Walk Of Fame.

Her most recent role was in the movie version of the popular TV Show Bewitched, but probably her most famous role which she was nominated for her first Oscar was as Satine the love of Ewan McGregors life in the all singing, all dancing Moulin Rouge . She also showed her singing talent when she got a Christmas Number One singing alongside Robbie Williams . And finally at one time the one thing she used to be most famous for was being married to Tom Cruise which unfortunately is no more as they split up in 2001. She is of course:
