I am a real person born on 3rd August 1946 in Essex

I went to the Brentwood School, then in 1967, I went on to Leeds University to study Law

I was President of the Leeds Student Union from 1967-68 and President of the National Union of
                  Students from 1968-1971

I was called to the Bar in 1972 and worked as a Barrister until 1974 when I became a special adviser
                  to the then Education Secretary the Rt. Hon Barbara Castle

In 1979 I was elected MP for the constituency of Blackburn

Between 1980 and 1983 I was Opposition Treasury Spokesman

In 1999, my son was arrested for selling cannabis

This was embarrassing because I became Home Secretary in 1997
