This person was born on the 31 st March 1971. He was a very active child and also liked to entertain from an early age. He didn't do much acting at school but he did a lot of singing which he utilized later in life in some of his films. Never happy at school he left at an early age and became a stage hand at Perth Repertory Theatre learning everything he could about acting. He then went to the guildhall School Of Music And Drama. He left there before graduating because he won a TV part as “Private Mick Hopper” – Lipstick On your Collar.

In the early nineties he landed his first movie role as “Alex Law” in the film “Shallow Grave ”. This led him onto other movie roles as he starred as characters such as Dean Raymond – Blue Juice, Frank Churchill – Emma, Andy – Brassed Off & Martin Bell – Night Watch.

By now his movie career was really starting to pick up as he starred in roles such as Robert Lewis – A Life Less Ordinary, Curt Wild – Velvet Goldmine, Billy – Little Voice, Nick Leeson – Rogue Trader & Stephen Wilson – Eye Of The Beholder.

So into early 2000 he was very much hot property on the Hollywood Movie scene as he starred as characters such as James Joyce – Nora, Christian – Moulin Rouge, Grimes – Black Hawk Down, Catcher Block – Down With Love, Joe Taylor - Young Adam, Ed Bloom – Big Fish, Lincoln Six Echo – the Island & Norman Warne – Miss Potter,

And finally two of his most famous roles were firstly the one that put his career on his map which was as “Renton” in the hard hitting film “Train Spotting ” and the second was of course in the Star Wars films as Obi-Wan Kenobi .
