I Was Born In London In 1937, My mother was a dress maker and my father was a bus driver, I am an only child and I was academically gifted passing my 11 plus exams with the highest mark possible. I got the music and acting bug after a trip to the theatre with my grandparents when we were invited to a peep backstage. My first proper film role was in “The Belles of St Trinian's” in 1954, and later In 1963 I received a Bafta nomination for my role in the film “Sparrows Can't Sing” I Also Happen To Be Distantly Related To The Famous Painter John Constable Some Of My Lesser Known Roles Are:- Ponytail, Annie Chapman, Cynthia Spooner, Sadie Tomkins |

My Surname is Not How You Know It Today And Is Actually “Deeks” (Spell It) I Changed It In 1952 To Something Rather Apt Regarding Something That Was Going On At The Time In 1968 I starred on Broadway in the musical “Oh What A Lovely War” For Which I Was Nominated For A Tony Award For Best Featured Actress But Sadly Missed Out. In 1999 I Released a Duet With One Of My TV Co Stars Entitled “The More I See You” Which Sadly Reached A Very Disappointing #44 In The UK Charts…. I Regret To Say That In My Private Life Has Been Far From A Bed Of Roses I Have Been Married 3 Times And I Have Had 4 Abortions The First 3 Before The Age Of 21 And The Last At The Age Of 42. n The Mid 80's To The Early 90's The Work Dried Up And I Ended Up Running A Pub In Buckinghamshire With My Then Husband. |

I Married my First Husband In 1964 But It came to an abrupt end in 1985 after he fled to spain after Bank Robbery Charges Were Filed Against Him And He Became The Most Wanted Man in Britain. I Married again In 1986 – (A Marriage to Stephen Hollings) Which Ended After Almost 10 Years In 1995 And Then I Married a 3 rd Time in 2000 To Scott Mitchell Which Is Still Going Strong. In 2000 I Penned An Autobiography Entitled “ All Of Me ” My Extraordinary Life Some More Characters I have played on film include:- Goldie, Jim Hawkins, Hope Springs, Mabel Fletcher, Myrtle, Laura La Plaz I Also Appeared Briefly In An Episode Of Dr Who In 2006 In Which I Played Myself. |
